The only reason a lot of cis people think being called a “cis person” is bad, or harmful or wrong is because they are used to the privilege of just being seen as a “person” or even a “normal person” without their sex or gender or gender identity being an issue for them. You see, when you call them “cis” suddenly they are not just a person, but now they have to think about a gender identity. Suddenly they are no better than a Trans* person. And that scares the shit out of them.

Isn’t cis just a slur or a cuss? So because now we have a word that derogatorily describes “normal people” we’re equal? Wouldn’t that be the same as saying “well now that we have a bad word for black people (nigger) we’re finally equal,”  What this person is essentially saying is that now that we can put another type of person down we can finally have equality.

Some animals are more equal than other animals I guess.

cis- is not a slur at all it is a designation that has been around for nearly 20 years and it has huge relevance in gender studies and is important and useful terminology, it is not as if tumblr made it up

having ‘cis-’ is not any worse than having ‘heterosexual’, they are the exact same damn thing

just because some buttmad self-righteous teenagers on tumblr make caricatures out of themselves with the ‘die cis scum’ nonsense does not mean there is anything wrong with the prefix cis- itself

the problem is the buttmad self-righteous teenagers not the word
